chapter 8
1)Why does Kahn asking Asher to read from the bible? How does Asher feel about this? Asher feels really akward about it. he's wondering why he has to go through it. in fact he's wondering what these two painting even have to do with each other. he's also wondering what is Khan motive for showing him these two pictures.
2)What book did Rivkeh’s bring to Asher? What does she ask him in relation to the book? she gave him a book about drawing. I found this really weird because Asher's mother gave Asher a book that basically told him that an artist is someone who goes and forgets everything except expressing himself through his art. Even Asher is suprised and dumbfounded to get such a book.
3)Why does Kahn keep pushing Asher away from becoming an artist? Back up your information with details from the story. my idea is pretty simple Khan is trying to push Asher away from Art because its an inside job the rebbe and Ashers parents are hiring this guy to push him away from his passion which is art.

A BLACK MAN TALKS OF REAPING
A Black Man Talks of ReapingBy Arna Bontemps
I have sown beside all waters in my day.
I planted deep, within my heart the fear
that wind or fowl would take the grain away.
I planted safe against this stark, lean year.
I scattered seed enough to plant the land
in rows from Canada to Mexico
but for my reaping only what the hand
can hold at once is all that I can show.
Yet what I sowed and what the orchard yields
my brother's sons are gathering stalk and root;
small wonder then my children glean in fields
they have not sown, and feed on bitter fruit.
