The reason why people take drugs instead of choosing the harder route is because when taking drugs you essentially get the same experience as a person who has been deeply meditating for many years but you get that feeling in a matter of minutes, They get high and this feeling is why most people do drugs, to get away from the world and have moments of peace and freedom. freedom from their worldly problems.
Meditation is another way of getting that same sensation but unlike drugs it takes longer to get the same effects. many people meditate without knowing it is meditation. different forms of prayers are forms of meditation because they bring the person peace and when they are having a hard life it can be reassuring to know that a higher power is there and that they can leave their cruel world behind and find peace after death.
drugs and meditation are similar in the feeling you have when doing it but the effects on your body are very different. Drugs is the easier way of getting to a more peaceful mindset but it is temporary so you would have to keep using to get high. years of doing this can lead to many diseases and eventually death. drugs can harm the body to the extent that life becomes harder then it had been previously and that might lead to more drugs trying to get away from it but it would only damage you even greater.
meditation is the alternative, its the harder but healthier alternative. Meditation doesn't harm your health and can be practiced for many years without any bad side effects. you can still feel the happiness and peace of mind you would feel but without the high and harmful effects that drug have.

Dr Zeidan and colleagues believe that meditation has great potential for clinical use because so little training was required to produce such dramatic pain-relieving effects.
"This study shows that meditation produces real effects in the brain and can provide an effective way for people to substantially reduce their pain without medications,"

reinforcing feminist sterotypes

this book has a great deal of stereotypes, but the one that really stands out is the stereotypes on women. A perfect example of this is at the beginning of the book their are two brothers one with 7 daughters and one with seven sons. the one that possess 7 sons is supposedly "special", and the one who has 7 daughters is considered the unlucky one. women in this book are considered as property, their husbands have to take care of them. they are like a burden, one of the characters even described them as children, another described our main character as a tag along.

50-78 Questions suldan RULES!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA

1. What is the deal that Nasir made with Jihha?
Jihha agrees to teach Nasir “the ropes” of being a merchant because Nasir wants to  learn what Jihha knows.  Also, Nasir wants to find something like rosewater to sell and make a bunch of money.  Nasir’s idea to find something that everyone must have, they just don’t know it yet leads Jihha to believe he can make a lot of money by financially backing Nasir up. Jihha see's potential in Nasir, and he is ready to heavily to invest in him.
2. Based on what you've read thus far, make an inference on what you think might happen with Nasir in Part 2?
I think after going through much hardship Buran will gain a little bit, but then a catastrophe will happen. their'll be setback, and it will leave Buran stronger than ever.

seven sons and seven daughters review one suldan

1) "If I die, let me die among those I love”. Who said this what is the context?
A- burans father says this, he says this in the beggining of the book he is speaking of his daughters he doesn't care if he's poor his daughters mean way more to him.
2)“You have a most educated eye my daughter? (P.35) What of Burhan is revealed here?
A. What's reavelead is she is intellegent. which is very hard to come by in that part of the world at that time. I say this because it was a very traditional norm and custom for the women to be illiterate, unintelligent housewives. Now we know that Buran has wits and intellect.
3)  Who is Gindar?
A- Gindar the cheif is the leader of the camel caravan across the dessert
4.     “ A man on my caravan will tell you as much about himself as he wants you to know.” P. What does this foreshadow?
A. this foreshadows the art of secrecy. Now Buran/ Nasir will have to be very seceretive about her identity is she wants to make this work. otherwise this plan could go down the toilet.
5.      Coming of Age: Read the first full paragraph on p. 40 ( A bend in the suq…..) and explain how this paragraphs shows coming of age?
A coming-of-age story or novel is memorable because the character undergoes adventures and/or inner turmoil in his/her growth and development as a human being. Some characters come to grips with the reality of cruelty in the world--with war, violence, death, racism, and hatred--while others deal with family, friends, or community issues. ( from: http://classiclit.about.com)
“It would be better to attempt to cross the desert by myself and die on the journey, my bones picked clean by vultures and left to bleach in the sun then go back home.”  Why is Nasir saying this?
A- because determination is an excellent value to keep, it also shows persistant, and how badly YOU want to reach that goal. Nasir has in fact been humuiliated, and to not dissapoint her father she must keep to her goal.

Suldan PAPER THINGY MAJIGY

as a Muslim young black male i think it very hard to cope in a mainly white christian dominated country. Personally i know their are people in this society who have it worse than me, like women.but i will not expel the fact that the society i live in has many temptations and many barriers. for one instance, many of the American "norms" like listening to music and going to clubs is prohibited from my religion. am I constantly tempted? Of course who wouldn't be, but with the help of my parents and Allah i can control myself from stopping most of the things. The next thing that comes is the culture. I come from Somalia, an east African country. Somalia has many fascinating values, and traditions. yet with America being the Great Melting Pot, it is not only hard to mix with other cultures, it is even harder about not forgetting your own culture.
